Cast iron paraffin (kerosene) stoves em erged in
the late 19th century as a m ore convenient and
portable alternative to wood-burning stoves,
particularly for heating and cooking in sm aller
spaces. A Swedish inventor, Frans W ilhelm
Lindqvist, developed the first
pprreessssuurriizzeedd–bbuurrnneerr kerosene stove in
1892, known as the Prim us stove.
These stoves utilized a burner
that vaporized the liquid fuel
(paraffin) into a gas, creating a m ore efficient
and soot-free burner.
