Morton
The Morton distance toffee, a popular treat in India, has its roots in the C&E
Morton (India) Limited confectionery factory established in Marhowrah, Bihar, in
1929. The factory, which produced various confectionery items under
the brand name “Morton,” was a significant employer and contributed
to the local economy. While the factory has since been closed and its
assets transferred, the Morton brand name is still used for some tinned
goods in India.
