Horlicks was first introduced in the United States in 1873 by
brothers James and William Horlick, who founded J & W Horlicks in
Chicago to create a malted milk drink. While initially
intended as a food for infants and invalids, it soon gained
popularity as a nutritious and easily digestible beverage.
The brothers later established a factory in Slough, UK, in
1906, to meet growing demand.
