This is an older series Indian 100-rupee banknote. The note features
the Emblem of India (Lion Capital Series) on the obverse side. It was
signed by an RBI governor; the signature appears above “GOVERNOR”.
Notes with this design replaced those featuring the portrait
of King George VI after India gained independence in
1947. The Reserve Bank of India began withdrawing all
banknotes printed prior to 2005 from circulation in 2014.
